Fish are on the banks and spawning right now, and anglers are targeting them from 8 feet of water up to 2 feet around shallow brush and cover. Longline trolling in the shallows, and casting jigs and minnows under a float, will both catch fish. Black Bass: Good. Guide Brad Fowler (864-934-5813) reports that fish made the move from 30-40 feet of water into the shallows and onto beds very quickly, and for about a week now a substantial spawn has been underway. Most of the big females do not seem to have moved up yet, though, and the spawn should be strong through April. With water levels down there is relatively little shoreline cover, and so most of the shallow fish can be found around docks. A strong pattern has been fishing around docks with soft plastics, jigs and shakey head worms. Right now the fish can mostly be characterized as prespawn and spawning. Catfish: Good. Captain Bill Plumley reports that blue catfish continue to be scattered out in the creeks and feeding well. Fish are on the banks and spawning right now, and anglers are targeting them from 8 feet of water up to 2 feet around shallow brush and cover. Longline trolling in the shallows, and casting jigs and minnows under a float, will both catch fish. Black Bass: Good. Guide Brad Fowler (864-934-5813) reports that fish made the move from 30-40 feet of water into the shallows and onto beds very quickly, and for about a week now a substantial spawn has been underway. Most of the big females do not seem to have moved up yet, though, and the spawn should be strong through April. With water levels down there is relatively little shoreline cover, and so most of the shallow fish can be found around docks. A strong pattern has been fishing around docks with soft plastics, jigs and shakey head worms. Right now the fish can mostly be characterized as prespawn and spawning. Catfish: Good. Captain Bill Plumley reports that blue catfish continue to be scattered out in the creeks and feeding well. Captain Bill&acirc;s boat is anchoring and fan casting with cut herring, gizzard shad, or other fresh cut bait in 5-30 feet of water, and some nice thirty plus pound fish continue to caught. Channel catfish including some very big fish are also feeding well in 5-8 feet of water on cut herring and nightcrawlers. Striped and Hybrid Bass: Good. Captain Bill Plumley reports that striper are scattered out but they are mostly relating to points. Pulling free lined live herring across points, and anchoring and fishing live herring on the bottom near points, are catching fish. A few nice fish are also starting to take cut bait. The best down line fishing has been 20-25 feet deep over 30 feet of water.
